To the dismay of local residents, Kirklees field has recently been the scene of parties which has led to lots of beer cans and bottles being left behind.
However, the police have responded really well by stepping up their presence on Friday and Saturday nights after receiving tip-offs regarding arranged parties.
Everybody was dispersed from the area, open containers of alcohol poured away and many sealed bottles seized. The local PCSOs also took several young people back to the field the following afternoon to clean up the mess.

So a big thank you to the Police and PCSOs for their continued hard work in curbing anti-social behaviour.
On other matters, I attended the public hearing for the wind turbine application at Birches Farm, Bradshaw at Bolton Town Hall on Thursday this week. Due to uncertainty over the reliability of the acoustic evidence available, the planning inspector deemed it necessary to take this matter to a full public inquiry before a decision can be made to reverse Bolton Council’s original decision to refuse the application. As soon as date is made available for the public inquiry I will post it on here.
Next week, I will be attending a site visit with Highways officers on Tuesday to see about dropping the curb at the bottom of Claybank Drive, Tottington to improve access for emergency vehicles when the wintery weather returns.
Finally, on a lighter note, I’m off to play cricket for Tottington St John’s 2nd XI now who are at home to Bury CC.
